ONPA Announces the Hiring of Cherisse Irons as a New Auditor

The Office of the National Public Auditor (ONPA) announces the hiring of Cherisse Irons as a new auditor assigned to the main office in Palikir, Pohnpei. The ONPA team warmly welcomes Cherisse and trusts that she will enjoy her new position and the staff at the office. Cherisse officially started working on October 01, 2009.

Cherisse, a citizen of the Federated States of Micronesia from the State of Chuuk, completed her four year studies and received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Chaminade University of Honolulu in May 2009.

From June to August 2009, Cherisse first worked as an intern at ONPA. As an intern, she was assigned to the audit team on Pohnpei DOE Procurement Activities, supervised by Edwin Barnuevo, CPA, who commended favorably on Cherisse's performance saying, among others, that she was timely as well as accurate in executing instructions during the course of the audit.

Prior to her internship at ONPA, Cherisse held various jobs while attending university in Hawaii. She worked at the Pacific Business Center Program at the University of Hawaii in Manoa as an assistant in areas relating to business plan development; at the Chaminade University Network and Desktop services assisting other IT specialists in maintaining students' access to online courses from 2007 to 2008; and participated as a Chaminade FAFSA team volunteer working at the Kaimuki High School and on Molokai assisting seniors and parents in 2008 to fill out their FAFSA forms and the required tax information.

Cherisse expresses joy and appreciation in joining ONPA and looks forward to a rewarding experience as she began her tour as an auditor at the Palikir office.
